I love nude eyeshadows, with a softly defined socket & a hint of shimmer on the lid. It’s the best way to create fresh looking eyes without looking like you’re wearing tons of eyeshadow.
I used Honey Lust mixed with All That Glitters, both by MAC, on the lid up to the socket.
And on the centre of the lid, I placed a touch of Shroom over the top of those colours, also by MAC - this makes the eye appear larger.
Using a Brown gel liner as opposed to a Black one is so much softer. Especially on a mature eyes.
To softly define the socket, I used a matte Brown eyeshadow by Louise Young.
I prefer to use a matte Brown as this sinks the socket where you place the colour, meaning you can create any eye shape you wish.
If you were to use a shimmery Brown it would reflect light, which pulls that area forward, defeating what you are trying to achieve.
So today I decided to create a full coverage contour teamed with a classic defined eye & Matt Red Lip!
I used SupraColour foundation by Kryolan, and I applied it with a combination of a stipple brush and a damp sponge.
I used a really pale shade, and a really dark brown.
On my eyes I used Vanilla by MAC, over the lid, and then Nylon over the top.
I created a slight cut crease using Black & Dark Brown from my Louise Young Essential Eyes palette.
Using a fluffy brush I swirled it in Tempting by MAC, which is a lighter brown shade, and I softened the crease upwards and towards the inner of the eye.
On the brow bone I used Duality from Anastasia Beverly Hills, to highlight under the brow, then I used a touch of Nylon to enhance it.
For my brows, I used a Brunette Brow Wiz from Anastasia Beverly Hills to map out the shape, then I filled it in with the matching brow powder.
To create the liner across my lid, I used Bobbi Browns Ink Black Gel liner on a fine liner brush. I also took that across my waterline & tight lined too.
I added a little mascara and some lashes to enhance the eyes. I love Magnetic Lash right now.
For my lips, I used Brick pencil by MAC to colour the entire lips in - creating a beautiful matte shade.
I don’t like to wear foundation, I only put it on when I’m off on a night out. But as I’ve got a cold at the moment my skin tone is a little more uneven. So I like to add the equivilant of a BB cream / tinted moisturiser to my face just to even that out a bit, but light enough that my skin can still breathe. To do this, I mix a Bobbi Brown foundation from my kit with my Clinique moisturiser.
I could just purchase a BB cream, but most only have 6 month life span, so it would be waste. Instead, I like to mix up my own, and I have the added benefit that I can add as much or as little of the foundation as I want depending on how much coverage I’m after.
Another image from a recent photo shoot with the fantastic Martin Higgs - photographer, beautiful model - Marta, our retoucher - Stefka Pavlova, and myself on makeup! I used Bobbi Brown foundation in Nude, MAC blush in Sweet As Cocoa, and Red lipstick by Grimas!
