I had a play this morning with some Lit Cosmetics glitter in ‘Beach Baby’.
I used a cream eyeshadow by Illamasqua called ‘Intrude’, to define the socket like crease, and I used Anastasia Beverley Hills ‘Brow Wiz’ to define my brow.
I also applied their highlighter ‘Duality’ on my brow bone to make the brow appear cleaner & enhance its shape.
To line my upper & lower lid, I used my Black liquid liner by Lime Crime in ‘Quill’.
I LOVE these new Hypercolor hair powders from Anastasia Beverly Hills!
So many people enjoy a splash of colour in their hair, but not all of us want a permanent colour or the inconvenience of having to wait 6-8 weeks for a ‘wash in - wash out’ to disappear.
These powders are the answer!! Intense pigment without dying or bleaching your hair.
Not only are these suitable for the hair on your head, they can also be used on your brows too. Which is ideal for someone in my line of work, for example when I’m creating a bright summery makeup look for a photo shoot, I can now add vibrancy to the brows! Usually a standard eyeshadow just doesn’t pay off on top of brow hair. But the Hypercolor is just electric on top of even the darkest of hair. There are a variety of shades to choose from, and at just $12.50 per compact, you can not go wrong!! A little goes a long way, so these will last you a while :)
How to apply;
1. ABH suggest you prep hair with a light application of glossing cream, styling wax, or leave-in conditioner.
I actually didn’t use anything in my hair, it was just dry & clean, which worked fine.
2. Separate your hair into sections and apply colour by sandwiching your hair in between your fingers or a tissue and the Hypercolor compact, and glide the colour on by pulling it down the strands. You can also use a cosmetic brush to dust the colour on.
Use gloves and a towel around your shoulders to avoid colour transferring onto your hands or clothing.
3. Set with hairspray, spraying 10-12 inches away from your coloured hair and misting lightly.
4. To remove, shampoo 1-2 times.
BROWS (suitable for all colours of Anastasia Beverly Hills Hypercolor Powder EXCEPT “In the Pink”)
1. Prep brow hair with a light application of Brow Fix. Prepping the brow helps the Hypercolor Brow and Hair powder to adhere to your hair.
2. Apply the Hypercolor brow powder using an angled brush with light strokes. Build the colour for a more intense finish.
3. To complete your look, set your brows with Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel! www.anastasia.net
Totally in LOVE with these two cream products from Illamasqua!
Gleam is a soft highlighter which can be applied to the face & body to accentuate areas such as the cheek & brow bone, giving a subtle fresh glow to wherever its applied.
Enrapture is a ‘Liquid Metal’ which is metallic & reflective. This deep bronzed shade looks beautiful on the eyelids when you have a tan. These two teamed together on the face is phenomenal.
My sister uses ‘Crave’ from the Urban Decay Basics palette to line her top lid. This give a soft but dark line making the lashes appear fuller at the base.
And when she wants it to be stronger in colour, she dampens her angled brush before dipping onto the shadow.
A little tip for those of you who use this palette!
I’ve recently seen too many girls pencilling on their eyebrows, too thick, too dark and in awful shapes! Thick dark brows will make you look older and give you a harsher appearance.
Your brows do not have to match your hair colour in order for it to be the ‘correct’ way to do brows. Use a brow powder, it’s softer. And always use a colour that appears lighter than your brow hairs, you’ll be surprised how dark some colours are. I have brown brows but I use an ashy pale grey colour. It may look too light in the pan, but it’s perfect on my brows.
Take a look at the brow guide on the image to the right. This is THE guide to use when shaping your brows. Everyone’s face shape is different but this guide works to all faces, providing you with a tailored shape brow to fit in with your contours.
Also, if you want darker brows, then have them tinted. The point of pencilling and powdering in your brow is make them appear fuller. Obviously you can go darker using a powder / pencil for the night if you feel its necessary. But on a daily basis, if you want them darker, then have them tinted.
Here is the third makeup tutorial of the ‘Intense Brow’ series.
It’s not necessarily an everyday wearable look, haha.. But I’m sure you’ll enjoy it none-the-less!
